Dear Community Members:

    We are delighted to inform you that Mr. and Mrs. Chellaram have
    generously donated $100,000 towards building a new Temple in
    Rochester.  This has allowed us to pay off the loan on the land.
    They have also donated several musical instruments.  The Chellarams
    strongly endorse the goals of the new Temple, which are to serve the
    Religious, Cultural and Literary needs of our diverse community,
    especially the growing number of second generation Indians. Please
    join us in thanking our generous benefactors who hope to spark the
    same sense of giving in our community towards this worthy goal

    Mr. Lal Chellaram
    		Mr. Lal Chellaram, who qualified as an economist from London
    University, is an entrepreneur and philanthropist.  He is Chairman
    of the Chellaram Group and established the Group’s diversification
    into Ship Owning and Ship Operations in the late seventies
    (http://www.chellship.com <http://www.chellship.com/>). As part of
    his philanthropic mission, Mr. Chellaram established the Chellaram
    Foundation in India and several Charities overseas.  He is the
    Founder and Chairman of the Chellaram Diabetes Institute (CDI),
    which is a Not-for-Profit Institute in Pune, India, with
    state-of-the-art clinical & diagnostic facilities
    (http://www.cdi.org.in <http://www.cdi.org.in/>). The principal
    objective of the Institute is to create a lasting impact on the
    diabetes situation in India through patient care, awareness,
    education and research.  CDI has also initiated a free rural
    Diabetes screening and awareness program in the Pune district. Mr.
    Chellaram has been a regular visitor to the Mayo Clinic over the
    past 25 years
    Mrs. Shobhna Lal Chellaram
    		Mrs. Shobhna Lal Chellaram is artistically gifted.  She is an
    accomplished Hindustani classical music and kirthan singer. She is
    an Iyengar Institute trained Yoga instructor and has a great
    fondness for painting.  The Chellaram Charities has donated a
    harmonium, two tablas and a dholak to the Temple.
